ABOUT THE WORK:

One of the most acclaimed artists to emerge from postwar Asia, Takashi Murakami—“the Warhol of Japan”—is known for his contemporary Pop synthesis of fine art and popular culture, particularly his use of a boldly graphic and colourful anime and manga cartoon style. Murakami became famous in the 1990's for his “Superflat” theory and for organising the paradigmatic exhibition of that title, which linked the origins of contemporary Japanese visual culture to historical Japanese art. His output includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, animations, and collaborations with brands such as Louis Vuitton.

“Japanese people accept that art and commerce will be blended; and in fact, they are surprised by the rigid and pretentious Western hierarchy of “high art’,” Murakami says. “In the West, it certainly is dangerous to blend the two because people will throw all sorts of stones. But that’s okay—I’m ready with my hard hat."

Under normal circumstances, we aim to ship all orders within 5 working days and often a lot quicker. However, in light of the uncertain times we are all currently facing, please refer to our dedicated COVID-19 page for our latest update on how we are managing orders, along with estimated shipping and transit times.

If there are any delays in shipping or if an artwork requires professional packing, including crating, we will get in contact with you as soon as possible after you have placed an order and let you know the estimated timings for delivery.
For orders placed through the website, you will receive an automated message once your order has been dispatched, which will include tracking details. We typically use DHL Express for UK and Worldwide shipping, with all shipments to mainland Europe sent by DHL Economy.

If your order is suspicious in nature or flagged as high risk for fraud, under our Terms of Business we reserve the right to cancel an order. We will notify you if this is the case and discuss alternative payment options.
