ABOUT THE WORK:
Longo is best known for his hauntingly realistic works on paper, and his large charcoal drawings. This is one of the artist's rare large format prints, instantly recognisable and powerful both in image and scale. It is a print that rarely comes to the market and will have a incredibly strong presence wherever it is displayed.
'Double Sharks' depicts two gargantuan beasts with gaping mouths and razor-sharp teeth. By cropping the sharks to just their heads, Longo heightens one's unease as the looming figures emerge out of a jet-black abyss.
