ABOUT THE WORK:

Liu-Ye is a contemporary Chinese artist, celebrated for his colourful, playful images. Inspired by Western abstract artists, he often creates stylised paintings of young children standing before artworks. Unlike many of his peers, Liu’s oeuvre does not base itself on the current political issues in China, instead there's a sense of child-like escapism, imaginings and interests. “Seeking beauty is the last chance for human beings,” Liu-Ye explained, “It is like shooting at the goal; it arouses an emotion that is wild with joy.”
