ABOUT THE WORK:
Ai Weiwei reflects on his life and work through the Chinese art of papercutting in this limited-edition portfolio. Meticulously cut in large-format, coloured fine-art paper, each of the eight pieces represents a decisive moment within the artist’s oeuvre—from his time in New York in the ’80s, his exploration of Chinese crafts in Beijing in the ’90s, to the political activism of his recent work—offering a beautiful, personal retrospective in a unique format.

DO YOU GUARANTEE ARTWORK AUTHENTICITY?
We guarantee that all artworks acquired from Lougher Contemporary are genuine and authentic. We conduct detailed checks on all artworks prior to buying them and pride ourselves on our diligence and market knowledge. Please refer to ourRefund PolicyandTerms of Businessfor further details.
DOES YOUR PRICING INCLUDE TAXES?
The price you see is the price you pay us, regardless of your location (note that shipping costs are on top and calculated at checkout). We do not charge VAT or any other taxes on top of this price, and as such we cannot take off the VAT for non-EU or EU-based VAT-registered customers.
Please note that any import taxes or duty are the responsibility of the buyer.
WHICH PAYMENT METHODS ARE ACCEPTED?
We accept payment by all major credit cards and PayPal via our secure checkout. We also accept payment by bank transfer or wire. Please get in contact should you wish to pay via bank transfer and we will issue you an invoice.
DO YOU SHIP WORLDWIDE?
All artworks are available to ship worldwide. You will be asked for your shipping address during the checkout process where a shipping quote is automatically generated to give you the total price payable. It is your responsibility to provide an accurate delivery address and advise us of any special shipping instructions at the point of sale or immediately after.
ARE ARTWORKS INSURED DURING TRANSIT?
If we arrange the shipping (which is typically the case when buying from us), we insure all artworks for their full value. We kindly ask you to notify us straight away in the event of damage or loss in transit.
WHAT IF AN ARTWORK ARRIVES DAMAGED?
In the unlikely event that an artwork arrives damaged, please contact us immediately. If there is any noticeable damage to the packaging, please do not open it to inspect the artwork but contact us immediately for advice on next steps.
Under our Terms of Business, it is the Buyer's responsibility to notify us of any damage within (5) working days. If contacting us after five (5) days, I'm afraid we cannot accept responsibility for damage to an artwork as it will be difficult to prove when the damage was incurred.
CAN YOU ORGANISE FRAMING FOR AN ARTWORK?
For works which are sold unframed, we do not offer a framing service. We advise you to frame locally in order to keep the cost and risk of shipping down and, of course, because framing is a personal preference.
I'VE BEEN CONTACTED ADVISING THAT YOUR BANK DETAILS HAVE CHANGED. CAN THIS BE TRUSTED?
In the interests of fraud prevention, please note that our contact details and bank details will not change. If you ever receive correspondence suggesting that they have, please contact us immediately by manually entering our phone number +44 (0) 117 959 6411.
We further advise that you contact us to confirm that we have received your payment if not paying through the website. We take every reasonable precaution to prevent fraud, and we cannot be held liable for payments made to fraudulent third parties.
WHAT IS YOUR PRIMARY CURRENCY AND CAN I CHECKOUT IN OTHER CURRENCIES?
Our primary currency is GBP (£).
The currency converter enabled on this site is for your reference and convenience only. Please note that all payments will be processed in GBP. If your primary currency is not GBP, we make no guarantees that the amount you are charged by your bank or credit card provider on the acquisition of an artwork will be the same as the cost displayed on this site when the currency converter is enabled.
WHY AM I BEING ASKED FOR ID PRIOR TO SHIPPING?
From 10 January 2020, the Fifth EU Money Laundering Directive requires art market professionals, including secondary market dealers (under which Lougher Contemporary falls), to undertake anti-money laundering checks on all buyers who acquire a work of art priced at €10,000 or more (or have acquired more than one work of art with an aggregate price of €10,000 or more).
We take our responsibility to comply with anti-money laundering regulations seriously so we ask you to respect this and whilst we recognise that it may be a minor inconvenience, if we ask you for proof of identification and confirmation of address, that you understand that this is now a requirement placed on us by EU and UK law.
The artworks featured above are limited to those in stock and available for dispatch typically within 5 working days (please refer to our shipping policy). At this time, we do not list works on our website that are on consignment or of a high value, such as very rare editions or unique works. Please contact us if you would like to request a full list of available works, or if you are interested in consigning or selling an artwork, by this artist.
